Abstract
According to the WHO, the
American Academy of Pediatrics, and the European Society for Pediatric
Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN), breastfeeding is the
optimal way of feeding infants and young children. The decision about
breastfeeding is most often on the mother's side, although a lot of
accompanying factors influence the final effect. The study was conducted from
January to April 2022 and 400 women of reproductive age took part in it. The original
questionnaire, The Iowa Infant Feeding Attitude Scale and Satisfaction with
Life Scale was used in the study. It was found that there is a significant
relationship between socio-demographic factors and the attitude of women
towards breastfeeding. Women who had not yet given birth had a statistically
significantly lower assessment of breastfeeding than those who gave birth
naturally or by cesarean section. There
is a relationship between sociodemographic factors, such as marital status,
socioeconomic conditions, having children, and occupational activity, and
women's attitudes toward breastfeeding. Higher level of life satisfaction is
associated with woman's more positive attitude toward breastfeeding
