Abstract
The
identification and care of with perinatal and post-partum mental-health problem
is increasingly considered as part of midwifery practice.Perinatal and
post-partum depression is strongly linked to poor maternal-infant health outcomes.
WHO Strongly recommends expanding mental health education and training of
primary care providers to improve quality of perinatal depression? However the
provision of intrapartum and post-partum screening and care of postpartum
mothers by midwives can be challenging, requiring good knowledge and training
in screening and counseling of depressive mothers. High intervention fidelity
and 3-8 days of psychological training programs for midwives can equip them
with effective skills for administering care to pregnant women with perinatal
and post partum depression.
