Vulvar Rejuvenation Using High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU): Fundamentals and Technique
Abstract
This study describes the
clinical experience of researchers on the use of microfocused ultrasound in
vulvar rejuvenation. Several treatments were performed in the city of
Salvador-BA, Brazil, which led to the creation of a database demonstrating the
effective action of this therapeutic resource in female intimate rejuvenation.
We found that the tissues of the external female genitalia respond very well to
the stimuli of focused sound waves, being able to produce immediate and
long-lasting results, through isolated applications or in association with
intradermotherapy or other therapeutic resources. We conclude that the use of
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound for vulvar rejuvenation is safely indicated,
with the guarantee of excellent aesthetic results at the end of the treatment,
because, like other treatment techniques, the thermal stimuli of focused sound
waves are also capable of producing an excellent therapeutic response in the
dermal tissue of the female intimate region, promoting intense neocollagenesis
and generating great aesthetic improvement.
Biography
Fabio Borges completed his Master's degree at the age of 40 at the
Betencourt da Silva College, Brazil. He is a professor in the postgraduate
department at the Fisepe College, Brazil. He has over 60 scientific
publications in the area of physiotherapy and aesthetics, and has three books
published in Brazil on the treatment of aesthetic dysfunctions. He has been
working since the early 2000s in the areas of teaching and scientific research
in Brazil, North America and South America.
